Duration
of Treatment
Various individual factors may influence one’s recovery
and these are taken into account to determine the number of
treatment visits necessary to completely resolve the complaint
at hand. These factors include: the patient’s ultimate
goals, current health status, severity and length of the injury,
and compliance with in-office as well as home care.
The duration of treatment is ultimately up to the individual
patient. For those who are mainly looking for relief from acute
pain, perhaps only a few sessions may be needed. While for others,
who prefer to enjoy the benefits of optimal health and pain-free
function, a more intensive therapy and rehabilitation program
may be required. A good rule-of-thumb that we employ is that
after the first 2 to 3 treatment visits, the patient should
be feeling some general improvement of their symptoms. After
this, further benefit will be a cumulative process, similar
to exercising regularly.
Communication
with Other Healthcare Providers
In addition to the treatment and rehabilitation of your pain
complaint, we effectively coordinate and manage your musculoskeletal
care. If the doctor feels that a diagnostic procedure (X-rays,
MRI, CT scan, ultrasound, etc.) or a medical specialist consultation
or procedure is warranted for your condition, then a referral
will be provided and all efforts will be made to expedite this
process. We work closely with physicians in various specialties,
including: family practice, internal medicine, physiatry, anesthesiology,
orthopedics, neurology, and neurosurgery. To assure maximum
continuity of care, timely and comprehensive reports are provided
to the appropriate healthcare provider. We will also work with
your primary care physician in order to provide you with the
highest quality healthcare.
